You can pay with your PrezzeePay eGift Card in-store and online, anywhere UnionPay is accepted, in Australia and overseas. Your card is digital-only, so you use it through the Prezzee App on your phone.
If you have a PrezzeePay Supermarkets or Fuel eGift Card, see How do I use my PrezzeePay Supermarkets or Fuel eGift Card?
Note: You can't use a PrezzeePay eGift Card to buy any Prezzee gift card, including a Prezzee Smart eGift Card.
What you'll need
- A Prezzee account
- The Prezzee App on your iPhone or Android phone
You can only pay with your card through the Prezzee App, not on the Prezzee website. You don't need to verify your identity.
Pay in-store
- Open the Prezzee App and go to Wallet.
- Find your card and tap View.
- Set up your card for tap-to-pay:
- iPhone: tap Add to Apple Wallet and follow the steps. You'll see a green tick and Added to Apple Wallet when it's done.
- Android: make sure NFC is turned on, then tap Set up Tap to Pay and follow the steps.
- At the checkout, hold your phone near the payment terminal:
- iPhone: open Apple Wallet and select your card.
- Android: open the Prezzee App and tap Tap to Pay.
If the terminal asks for a PIN, you'll find it on your card in the Prezzee App. A PIN is usually only needed for purchases over $200.
Pay online
- Open the Prezzee App, go to Wallet and select your card.
- Tap Card details to see your card number, expiry date and CVV.
- At the retailer's checkout, choose to pay by credit or debit card and enter your card details. Don't choose the gift card or voucher option.
If the retailer accepts Apple Pay, you can also pay online with Apple Pay on your iPhone.
Card details
- Where it works: in-store and online, anywhere UnionPay is accepted, including overseas. Your card is in Australian dollars.
- Expiry: your card is valid for 3 years from the date it was bought. You'll see the expiry date under your card in the Wallet.
- Reloading: your card can't be topped up. You can use it for as many purchases as you like until the balance runs out or the card expires.
- Swapping: this card can't be swapped for other gift cards on Prezzee.
- Balance and transactions: open the Prezzee App, go to Wallet, and select your card. Tap the refresh icon to update your balance, and tap View to see your transactions. Pending means a payment is approved but not final yet.
- Refunds from a retailer: the retailer processes the refund. It appears in green as + Refund in your transaction history.
- Spending limits: your card has a daily spending limit and a daily transaction limit.
- Payments you can't make: cash withdrawals, mail or phone orders, recurring payments and subscriptions, instalment plans, and some merchant types, such as cryptocurrency.
- Google Pay, Samsung Wallet, PayPal: these aren't supported yet. On Android, pay with Tap to Pay in the Prezzee App.
Card declined?
Here's what to check:
- Your available balance. A merchant may have a pending amount on your card, which lowers what you can spend right now. See: Why is money pending on my PrezzeePay card?
- Your daily limits. If a payment goes over your daily spending or transaction limit, it won't go through.
- How you paid online. Make sure you chose a credit or debit card at the checkout, not the gift card or voucher option.
- The merchant. Some merchants don't accept UnionPay, or don't accept this type of payment. You'll need to pay another way.
